Love, love the ladder picture holder! Just found your website, and love the idea of an underground house. Only one I ever saw was one on way to our cottage between wayland and middleville, mi. really like the energy saving idea of underground living, and I saw online some beautiful homes. I could only afford 1/9 th of the ones they showed! Lol. Looking forward to reading about your adventures in the house!

You may need to put a positive side waterproofing sealant on all the surrounding surfaces in order to minimize the condensation.

Hi Michelle,

For years I have been planning a mostly self built self directed earth berm home. Last Fall I had the side hill dug out and earthwork done. I cam across your site and Byll and Cheryl’s videos. I have lots of questiions for you both. Is it Ok if I ask you some about your home and also do you know how I could contact Byll or Cheryl? I like their roof particularly and want to go the next step by installing a living roof on it if possible. Hope to hear from you. gc

the thoughts with the windows as they are is that we could open them and let natural convection take humidity and heat out, but with the back roofline, getting a ladder up there to open them with toilet, vanity, w/d in the way is not the best option, if I had to do it again I would go with a traditional roof and solar tubes

Thanks for chiming in, Mainer! I don’t know how I messed that one up. I am so sorry. All is fixed.

I read somewhere that you said if you did it again, you would go with a more traditional roof and just add light tubes (I think that was it) to the back rooms. Could you elaborate on that thought? Why the change in preference?
